Muñozonian women, 4H Club youth capacitated on organic and goat production in Lakbay AgriATM

Agri Aral Tekno Mobil program conducted its fifth Lakbay AgriATM for Nueva Ecija specifically at the Science City of Munoz on May 19, 2022.
“Lakbay” capacitated 61 rural women, and youth members of the Head - Heart - Hands - Health (4H) Club - Science City of Muñoz on organic vegetable and goat production in an activity held at the City Agriculture Office compound.
Using the AgriATM Van equipped with smart devices for extension work,the training utilizes the digital paradigm with the learning management system (LMS) as a tool in teaching select commodities.
City Agriculture Officer Dr. Jerry Rigos gave his opening remarks and expressed his gratitude to AgriATM and CLSU for their efforts to help the rural folks to increase their livelihood and to open the minds of the members of the community that there are such technologies existing; and also to the youth that are relatively more exposed and focused to different social media platforms and gadgets.
“User-friendly platform ang AgriATM at helpful sa kabataan to (further) open up agriculture to the youth”, said Mike Angelo Onia, a member of 4H Club – Muñoz on his experience with the teaching approach AgriATM introduced in the training.
Onia, along with other youth and rural women participants received certificates of completion.
Present during the activity was Dr. Cynthia C. Divina, Program Leader, as well as the experts on goat production and organic farming, Mr. Neal Del Rosario, CLSU Small Ruminnant Center Head, and Mr. Johnah Jefferson Mercado, Extension Expert, respectively.
They shared their knowledge about the variety of crops being planted, soil & water management as well as the different breeds of goats, feeds, and marketing to give them ideas on how to generate income from their chosen commodity.
Lakbay AgriATM Science City of Munoz was an activity in collaboration with the Science City of Munoz Agriculture Office.
The AgriATM aims to develop and deliver timely extension modular trainings and expert assistance in the production of tilapia, goat, mushroom, and organic vegetable for livelihood/business enterprise in an e-learning platform and through the use of the AgriATM van.
One of AgriATM’s features is the website they developed (www.agriatm.com) or the Learning Management System which contains the said e-modules and can be accessed by any interested visitors for free once they enrolled or registered online.
